About

Serena Entezary

I took my love of psychology, desire to help others, and strength in problem solving to arrive at a career in UX. I’ve spent the last five years working in all facets of the space: from front end design and development, to usability testing, to UX writing and content strategy.

When I’m not working, you can find me practicing Zen, going on adventures with my wife, drawing/painting, singing while cooking, and learning more about the subjects I love.

What I Do

Thinking about the psychology of users

Try to make people laugh

Love animals

Volunteering

I volunteer with several organizations (Tech Fleet, Global Justice Ecology Project, Hotel for Homeless Dogs, Providence Animal Rescue League). I love volunteering because I am deeply passionate about helping others.

While walking dogs, I utilize skills I learned from when I conducted canine cognition research in Mississippi!

If I was in Avatar: The Last Airbender...

I would be a Waterbender! (Pictured here is a digital art piece I did of my wife and I as Aang and Katara, respectively.) Besides this element being the coolest (literally and figuratively), I find that waterbending fits my personality perfectly!

A digital art piece of a short haired nonbinary person with an undercut (blonde hair on top, brown shaved hair on the sides) posing dressed in the outfit that Aang wore in the Fire Nation in Avatar: The Last Airbender. A female person dressed as Katara in the Fire Nation has her hand up against the nonbinary person's hand as if about to start combat, but it is really a dance.

Water: The Element of Change

Water is the element of change, and as a waterbender (in my heart), I am able to adapt and grow with each new experience. When I reflect back on my life, I can see tremendous change in myself, even from just a few months ago! I'm constantly learning, developing my skills, and becoming who I am meant to be!

Versatility

Waterbending in Avatar: The Last Airbender takes many forms, from creating waves to ice breath to Foggy Swamp plant-bending, there is a wide range of skills needed as a Waterbender, which matches up with my diverse set of skills that I've learned from being in several different fields (psychology, tech, and art)!

Powerful But Soft

Water is beautiful to look at, and feels great when you go swimming in it, but over time, water can weather down any stone. I know that I am determined and eager to work in a field that I love. I am passionate and care very deeply about people and making a difference in the world. Like water, I can create change.
